La Corporazione Musicale “Luisa D’Annunzio” e il Conservatorio di Pescara: uno sguardo al passato per interpretare il futuro

Almost a hundred years later, the relationship between the strategic and cultural assumptions of the current Conservatory of Pescara and the ongoing cultural and institutional situation from which it has derived, is still of extreme relevance. By observing the context, the objectives and the interventions leading to the founding of “Luisa D’Annunzio” Conservatory, this contribution examines the legacy of its founders. It still proves effective in the world of Higher Musical Artistic Education, by offering orientation cues along the ethic, artistic and cultural path carried out by the Institution. In a peculiar equivalence of situations, when the Musical High School was founded, the directors of “Luisa D’Annunzio” Association asked themselves the same question as they do today: which identity and direction does a modern institution have to pursue properly? Music production activities that were performed in the past highlight the ‘political role’ acknowledged to the art of music. A role that nowadays “Luisa D’Annunzio” Conservatory is asked to pursue in every possible way and through any possible mean afferent to Higher Education. Didactics, production, research and third mission recommend new principles or updated ones in order to build up the identity of a modern musician: a ‘citizen-artist’ able to understand and handle music as a collective heritage.
