Un ricordo di Jacopo Napoli

A short essay, supplementing the unpublished volume Theme with variations by Maestro Jacopo Napoli, in which biographical and artistic information on the illustrious Neapolitan composer who died in 1994 and almost completely forgotten are specified. An attempt to resurrect his musical memory in order to awaken new interest in his theatrical and instrumental production, really important especially in the central decades of the twentieth century, and to relocate significantly its presence in the field of ‘traditional’ music but, not for this reason, far from a cautious and interesting modernism that he was able to combine with his concept of music during all his activity as composer, teacher, critic, reviewer and Director of the three most important Conservatories in Italy (Naples, Milan, and Rome).
