Un tesoro inesplorato: l’Archivio e la Biblioteca dell’Accademia Chigiana

The aim of this essay is to illustrate the project of an overall reorganization of the Chigiana Musical Academy Archive and Library, describing the different phases involved in ensuring the permanent preservation, full knowledge and accessibility of a heritage of great relevance for twentieth-century music history. Two steps are needed in order to achieve this goal. On the one hand, the whole archival and bibliographic collection should be put under Italian State protection and safeguard, as a material of relevant cultural interest. On the other hand, a thorough reorganisation, including a new inventory and catalogue, is necessary, in order to include all data into the national archival and library network.
